What’s Your Penguin: Why the destination is more important than how you get there.

My sister had her second baby, a girl, back in September 2018.

When my niece started to crawl, my sister sent me a video showing how Masha is trying to crawl. I watched this video many times by now.

My sister, Tatiana, was holding her phone filming with one hand while helping Masha to crawl with another.  Tatiana was very encouraging and my niece was giving her best to make this happen.

At first, you would think that she is just trying to crawl on her bed. Then my sister moves the camera saying: Yes, let's crawl... Look how cool that penguin is!

And she shows a penguin. My niece wasn't just trying to crawl, she was crawling towards that penguin. (Kinda similar to what Joe had in Friends).

Why I am telling you this story?

My question is:

What's your penguin?

What are you "crawling", moving towards?

We all need to take time to figure this out. Otherwise, how would you know when you get there? When we take a holiday, we first decide where we want to go, right?

With your business and life - it's the same. Create a blueprint, what you’d like your business to look like when it’s “done”. Even if you change things later on, for now, what would this “done” picture look like?

Once you know, you’ll understand what’s your priority, it will be easier to say no to things that will lure you away from your destination.

Otherwise, you’ll end up like Alice in Wonderland talking to a Cheshire Cat.

"Alice: Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?

The Cheshire Cat: That depends a good deal on where you want to get to.

Alice: I don't much care where.

The Cheshire Cat: Then it doesn't much matter which way you go."

~ Lewis Carroll (Alice in Wonderland)

Take time to figure out what you’re building and moving towards. What’s your Penguin? Do you like what you imagined?
